Bonjour!
I am just back from a fantastic weekend in France celebrating my brother’s 40th – 70s style! Everyone made such an effort with their costumes and the whole party was really colourful and, thanks to my amazing husband’s DJing, non stop dancing till the early hours! It was so much fun!!
I’m pretty knackered out now but have to get back to the sewing table to finish my dress for tonights return of the Great British Sewing Bee! I’m so excited to be sharing it with some lovely London sewists at the GBSB meetup tonight! I’m hoping to finish and wear the Shirtwaist Dress from Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing: A Modern Guide to Couture-style Sewing Using Basic Vintage Techniques together with my lovely friend Megan who comes round most weeks to sew things with!
Anyway – lots to do so I’ll get on with the blog! Here’s a roundup of week 2 of Me Made May’s outfits….
In order from top left down to bottom right:
DAYS
- MONDAY 9th May – Casual trousers from The Great British Sewing Bee: Fashion with Fabric
in heart print jersey from Abakhan and knitted Andi Satterlund Plain Jane cardigan - TUESDAY – In the middle of sewing up my latest knitting project – a sneaky glimpse at the next Minerva Crafts Blog make and a slouchy knitted hat
- WEDNESDAY – A newly finished Simple Sew Pussy Bow Blouse (tutorial here) and my Closet Case’s Ginger jeans
- THURSDAY – Striped Drapey Dress also from The Great British Sewing Bee: Fashion with Fabric book
- FRIDAY – Upcycled playsuit featured in my latest vlog
- SATURDAY – Tilly & The Buttons’ Françoise dress and trusty knitted headband
- AND in the evening… another upcycled playsuit from the vlog for my brother’s 40th in my 70s costume!
- SUNDAY – TATB Agnes dress hack (blogged here) in Liberty jersey from Abakhan
So this week was a bit more practical as I was at home a lot but I’m so pleased the weather was nice enough at the weekend so I got to wear dresses and my newly upcycled playsuits! I have to say, I was pretty happy with my 70s costume- I even had a back story of being Helga from Sweden to go with it!! Haha!!
So this week I’m off to hospital for my thyroid cancer operation and have no idea how long it will take to be back on my feet afterwards… I had the same op 10years ago and was bed ridden for months after so hopefully this will be a lot quicker but I thought I’d let you know that I may be quiet for a while. I will still try and keep up with Me Made May and as I made some yummy PJs especially for it! I’m also filming and editing a few vlogs to come out the next couple of weeks and have a fun instagram film quote idea to keep me occupied and in the loop. I will need all the support and laughter I can get!! Stephen (my amazing husband) has got me a mattress and a whole load of films so we are making the sitting room into a massive bed for my ‘recovery movie marathon’ and I have lots of knitting and maybe a hand sewn quilt to keep me going!
Wish me luck and happy sewing all!
