Hola Amigos!
Well, I started off really strong with Me Made May – I pretty much wore handmade clothes every day and for every gig but it’s got harder as I don’t actually have that many me made items- I have worn them all and they are now in the washing pile! I am now fully aware of what holes I have in my handmade wardrobe though…
- I have no tops – I have not sewn a single top yet so I need to do that pronto – they should be nice, quick and easy to whip up -which is exactly what I need/like!
- I need more easy clothes – I live in my casual trousers and need more like them – this time with pockets! I would love to try and make some trousers… maybe jeans? Or is that too soon?!
- Before my next set of gigs in July I need to crack on with making more show clothes- I love wearing my me-mades on stage they give me more confidence and it’s been so lovely meeting people on the road that know of my blog and enjoy seeing my creations in the flesh so we can discuss what I need to improve and make next etc etc!
- I should probably do my washing more regularly! 😉
Anyway I have tried…
What I’m wearing (From left to right)
SATURDAY 9TH MAY: Cotton self drafted circle skirt on tour in Glasgow
MONDAY 11TH & TUESDAY 12TH: Blue corduroy Delphine Skirt from Love At First Stitch
THURSDAY 14TH: Birds and Bows cotton Megan Dress from Love At First Stitch at a gig in Austria
FRIDAY 15TH: Spotty Francoise dress by Tilly & The Buttons (I’ve realised I live in her designs!)
SATURDAY 16TH: Sister’s birthday party in my ‘bday’ skater dress by Simple Sew free with Love Sewing magazine (which I then kept on to sing with Al Stewart at The Royal Albert Hall that night!)
SUNDAY 17TH: Vegging out in my casual trouser from the GBSB Book
And for gigs…
I have to quickly share my massive successes in Manchester – firstly I went to a little antiques fair in a random sports centre and found a vintage Singer sewing machine for £15! It is working (we checked there and then) and has been brilliantly adapted to be electric and even has a light – BARGAIN!! Also I couldn’t go up north without diving into the remnant bins at Abakhan – man I am so so in love with this place. I went in looking for jersey and came out with a huge bag full of the stuff- all in my favourite monochrome prints for just £30!! So happy!
Oh and I have just finished the 2nd sleeve of the jumper I’ve been knitting- I lost the blooming pattern halfway through this sleeve so really slowed down having to work it out as I went along but I’m nearly there… yup just in time for summer! 😉
Tomorrow is an exciting day for me as my first Minerva Crafts Blogger Network blog comes out – catch it here and keep an eye out for me sharing like crazy on my social networks! 🙂
Love and… is it too early for ice cream?!
Hi Gabby,
So great to meet you the other night at Scala – what a fab night!! Emily and Isobel were thrilled with their video hello from you and can’t wait for your all ages gig!!
So glad you have managed to get on with your jumper – I will definitely be brave and try and finish Emily’s (and hope the wool doesn’t run out….)
Love, love, love the Singer – I have a hand crank version with the same Egyptian decoration!!
Hope to see you soon
xx Denise
