FEBRUARY MAKES:

1) Navy Cleo Dress

Pattern:

Cleo pinafore dress – Tilly & The Buttons

Fabric:

Navy needlecord from Cloth House Warehouse

How long it took to sew:

3 hours

Any tips / tricks / details:

It is a really quick make apart from the turning out of the straps which always takes a long time and lots of patience! I used a bright yellow thread to topstitch with to add some interest to the navy dress!

2)Yellow Rope Gathered Skirt

Pattern:

Midi Skirt – Vanessa Pouzet

Fabric:

Yellow robe upholstery fabric from Cloth House Warehouse

How long it took to sew:

1.5 hours

Any tips / tricks / details:

Well, I’m wearing a shirt that doesn’t go very well so I feel like I’m not letting this skirt shine but to me it is PERFECT! I really love everything about it – my favourite fabric EVER! It can come up a bit big so I’m so happy that the buttons on the waistband can be positioned to tighten the skirt. I also added a small dart to the side of the waistband to shape it and make it fit a lot better to my form!

3) Library Skirt

Pattern:

Billie Skirt – Tribe Patterns (The Fold Line with Rachel Pinheiro)

Fabric:

‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ cotton from Sugar Bowl Crafts

and

Cotton chambray from White Tree Fabrics

How long it took to sew:

2 hours

Any tips / tricks / details:

I only had 1m of the main fabric, which is also lightweight so I used the chambray as a underlining but also made the skirt front and back in the full pattern length as I had to shorten the main fabric to fit the pattern on 1m! I also added a lovely lace exposed zip which makes it even prettier!

4) Minerva’s March Make – Burgundy Lola Dress

Pattern:

Lola dress – Victory Patterns

Fabric:

Burgundy boucle knit from Minerva Crafts

How long it took to sew:

4 hours

Any tips / tricks / details:

Here’s my blog all about it:

Pattern:

Moneta dress  – Colette Patterns

Fabric:

in £1 a metre fabric from Hackney Market

How long it took to sew:

6 hours to work out all the hacks etc.

Any tips / tricks / details:

Added a self drafted yoke, collar and lengthened the sleeves for this toile.

6) Moneta dress (for the MONETA PARTY!)

Pattern:

Moneta dress  – Colette Patterns

Fabric swap and stash fabrics

How long it took to sew:

7) Heather dress

Pattern:

Heather Dress – Sew Over It

Fabric:

£1 a metre fabric from Hackney Market

How long it took to sew:

4 hours

Any tips / tricks / details:

Not really – I had a moment of confusion with the pockets as I was trying to make it on the overlocker so I guess my advice would be to do that part of the sewing machine!
