To design and sew up the wildest, most eccentric stage outfit you could possibly imagine!

You can sew, knit, crotchet, upcycle, embroider, weave, even stick it together!!

The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:

  • Design and make a full stage costume for Gabby Young, to her measurements as stated here.

  • Either send in your make to an address provided at request or email gabberdashery@gmail.com with a clear photograph or selection of images of the finished item.

  • The photograph can be on yourself, a model, mannequin, hanger or laid out. As long as we can clearly see the outfit we are not fussy.

  • All entrants must include contact details – email and postal address with their entries.

  • MAIN RULE:

  • It must be handmade

  • And wearable on stage – I need to be able to move in it as I run around a lot on stage! I do play guitar as well so you may want to consider that!

  • Oh and nothing offensive or too revealing please! 😉

Here are some ideas:

  • You can group together and team up! Maybe work with a someone who designs and you do the making or a group of you do it together – there are no rules on this.
  • You can make numerous pieces – feel free to enter more than once – each item will count seperately.
  • You can use sewing patterns or design or it yourself or both!
  • There are no rules about what you make at all – feel free to make separates, accessories etc etc

 

THINGS TO CONSIDER

  • When running around a stage it’s nice to feel supported – so strapless doesn’t normally work unless it’s really structured.
  • It would be great to be able to step in to the costume as pulling it over the head after my hair and makeup is done can be tricky!

 

ALSO feel free to be as public or secretive as you want – it’s up to you! I will be deciding the winners based on how the finished item looks so I will be sharing / reposting any teaser posts and not show any bias towards anyone!

Is a London based singer/songwriter with her 5 piece band (formerly known as ‘Gabby Young & Other Animals’) who tours internationally and has had extensive radio play and TV airtime. On stage she goes ALL out and likes to wear dramatic, eccentric, eclectic costumes for her performances!

13. Winners will be chosen: from all entries received and verified by the Promoter

The winner will be notified by email and on Instagram, Youtube, Twitter and Facebook within 28 days of the closing date.  If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
