Howdy folks!
I make no secret of the fact that I love the sewing community – it’s totally rocked my world and each day it gets better – I honestly didn’t know how wonderful, helpful and supportive the internet could be till I started sewing. It’s so amazing that one blogger, Karen of DidYouMakeThat.com along with the brilliant folks at Love Sewing magazine have come up with a plan to help others through sewing too. They started the Made Up Initiative in support of the National Literacy Trust and within the first day lots of sewists, including myself, had pledged over £1000 to make something within a month and donate to the charity.
So I pledged to make a dress – I even said “probably a Bettine” so guess what I just made…
The pattern is the new one from Tilly & The Buttons who can do no wrong in my book – all of her patterns are lovely and the Bettine dress is no exception! The fabric is a lovely art deco inspired viscose – it was a steal at £2 a metre from a new fabric shop in Finsbury Park, Kiswah Fabrics. I couldn’t decide between these two colourways so I got both… methinx they will be seeing a lot of me!! 😉
I’m not 100% sure if this dress is very ‘me’ but it’s growing on me – I do love it’s shape and details – especially the POCKETS! I do love me a good pocket!! I can’t wait to try the jersey version (using her useful tutorial here.)
Anyway back to the Made Up Initiative… you don’t have to make something to be involved, it’s a lovely thing to be a part of and a fantastic cause either way and you can donate here! Good luck to my fellow made up-ers taking part!
I’ll be back… (said the Arnie way!)
Thank you so much for a wonderful blog post. You’re a breath of fresh air! I love what you’ve done with the logo.
This Bettine looks great in drapey viscose. And you look good in it! Pleased to have found your blog. Louise.
